Had a bit of time tonight so Mark got started on the R6. Got the valve cover off and got a look at the cam chain and such. Cam chain looks good, cam chain tensioner looks good. So now we know it is not going to be the easy fix.

We stopped at that point, went in the house, I threw up, and had a bit of dinner. Might go out and take the cams off tonight, might not.
