Motorcyclist dies after riding off San Mateo County cliff

A San Carlos man plunged down a ravine to his death Wednesday while riding his motorcycle on Highway 1 north of Woodside Road.

Paul Werren, 67, was traveling with another motorcyclist at around 5 p.m. when he hit a dirt embankment and tumbled several hundred feet down a ravine into heavy brush, according to the California Highway Patrol. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not clear whether Werren collided with the other rider, and the CHP is still looking for the other motorcyclist.
